The Philadelphia Eagles and veteran defensive tackle Fletcher Cox agreed to a one-year contract worth $10 million through the 2023 season on Wednesday. The 32-year-old from Yazoo City, Mississippi, had 43 tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 17 games for the Eagles in 2022.
This will be Cox’s 12th season with the Eagles. Philadelphia drafted Cox in the first round (12th pick) in the 2012 NFL Draft. In eleven seasons in Philadelphia, Cox has 486 tackles, 65 sacks, 14 pass breakups, 15 forced fumbles, and nine fumble recoveries in 173 games, of which 167 were starts. Cox is a six-time Pro Bowler (2015-20), First Team All-Pro in 2018, NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, and a Super Bowl champion (LII).
Collegiately, Cox played three seasons at Mississippi State (2009-11) with 114 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and five blocked kicks in 36 games for the Bulldogs.
