The Calgary Stampeders signed former Texas linebacker Rahssan Thornton on Friday. The 25-year-old from Killeen, Texas, competed for the Desperados in the 2022 College Gridiron Showcase All-Star Game. He later attended the New York Giants rookie minicamp.
Thornton played one season for the Texas Longhorns in 2021 with 31 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 12 games. He collected a season-high six tackles (five solo) with a career-best three tackles for loss against Oklahoma State.
Before Texas, Thornton played four seasons at LSU (2017-20) with 45 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 41 games for the Tigers.
