The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Columbia defensive back Will Allen III. on Monday. The 23-year-old from Pembroke Pines, Florida, worked out for the Miami Dolphins in 2022.
Collegiately, Allen played four seasons at Columbia (2017-19, 2021) with 61 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions for 48 yards, 20 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, five blocked kicks, 37 kick returns for 998 yards, and one touchdown in 38 games for the Lions.
In his final season, Allen made 22 tackles, two interceptions for 47 yards, 13 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, four kick returns for 167 yards, and one touchdown in ten games. He is a two-time All-Ivy League selection (2017 and 2021).
He ranks second in school history in career blocked kicks. In addition, he holds the school record for most yards per kickoff return in a career (27.7), most kickoff return touchdowns in a career (1), most career plays of 80-plus yards (2), and ranks seventh all-time in Columbia records with 17 career pass breakups.
Allen is the son of former NFL player Will Allen, who played 11 seasons with the New York Giants (2001-06), Miami Dolphins (2006-11), and New England Patriots (2012).
