The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Appalachian State kicker Chandler Staton on Friday. The 24-year-old from Gainesville, Georgia, went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft and later worked out with the Green Bay Packers.
Collegiately, Staton played five seasons at Appalachian State (2017-21) making 64 of 81 field goals (79%) with his longest field goal for 53 yards, one blocked kick, converted 272 extra points, 126 kickoffs for 7,217 yards, 33 touchbacks, and five kicks out of bounds in 61 games for the Mountaineers.
In his last season, Staton made 20 of 21 field goals (95%) with his longest field goal for 48 yards and converted 57 extra points in 14 games. He was named First Team All-American from PFN, a Groza Award semifinalist, and named First-team All-Sun Belt in 2021.
