The Montreal Alouettes and defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Friday. The 28-year-old from Ile Bizard, Quebec City, made 42 tackles, four interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 17 games for the Alouettes in 2022.
This will be Dequoy’s third season in Montreal. The Alouettes drafted Dequoy in the second round (14th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft. In two seasons, Dequoy has 51 tackles, four interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 25 games.
Furthermore, the Green Bay Packers signed Dequoy as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He became the first Montreal native to sign with an NFL team on draft weekend and second overall David Foucault in 2014. However, the Packers released him on August 15th, 2020, and later joined the Alouettes.
Collegiately, Dequoy played four seasons at the University of Montreal (2016-19) with 94 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, ten interceptions for 237 yards, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 28 games for the Carabins.
He was named U Sports First Team All-Canadian in 2019, a Quebec conference (RSEQ) All-Star (2017), and a U Sports Second Team All-Canadian in 2017.
In his final season, Dequoy had 37.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions for 20 yards, and one pass breakup in eight games. During the 55th Vanier Cup, Dequoy broke his right forearm making a tackle.
He was invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl but could not participate due to the injury. However, during his pro day, Dequoy ran a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash, which was the second-fastest time for a cornerback.
