Solag Bakich scores a goal for the Royals in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Lions

The Reading Royals (38-23-5) concluded their four-game homestand at the Santander Arena on Sunday afternoon against the Trios-Rivieres Lions (26-37-3) for the tenth and final time of the season. Coming into this game, the Royals were 6-3 against the Lions this year.

A minute and twenty-eight seconds into the first period, Solag Bakich (1) put the Royals up 1-0 with an assist by Charlie Gerard. The Royals had eight shots on goal and led 1-0 after one period.

Twelve minutes and twenty-eight seconds into the second period, James Phelan (5) scored for the Lions that tied the game 1-1. Bradley Johnson and William Lemay assisted with his goal. The Royals had 13 shots but the game remained tied 1-1 after two periods.

Five minutes and thirty-six seconds into the third period, Cole Gallant (2) put the Lions up 2-1. James Phelan and Zach Kaiser assisted with his goal. Three minutes and nineteen seconds later, Mason Millman (8) scored for the Royals that tied the game 2-2. Devon Paliani and Charlie Gerard assisted with his goal. The Royals had 11 shots but the game remained tied 2-2 after three periods.

After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout. Charlie Gerard scored in the shootout but Anthony Beauregard and Connor Welsh scored as the Royals lost to the Lions by the final score of 4-3 in a shootout. The Royals finish the season 6-4 against the Lions this year.

The Royals finished the afternoon with 35 shots, 0-1 on the power play, and Matt Vernon made 24 saves. On the other side, the Lions had 27 shots, 0-1 on the power play, and Etienne Montpetit made 33 saves.
