The Edmonton Elks signed former Troy quarterback Jarret Doege and former Jacksonville State offensive lineman Ye’Majesty Sanders on Monday.
Jarret Doege is six foot two and weighs 208 pounds. The 25-year-old from Lubbock, Texas, completed 44 of 64 passes (69%) for 575 yards, five touchdowns, three touchdowns, and 14 carries for -39 yards in seven games for the Trojans in 2022.
Doege began his collegiate career at Bowling Green (2017-18) completing 362 of 577 passes (62.7%) for 4,041 yards, 39 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 81 carries for -262 yards, and four touchdowns in 19 games for the Falcons. In 2018, he led the MAC in passing touchdowns (27) and passing yards (2,660).
Then, Doege transferred to West Virginia (2019-21) completing 590 of 911 passes (65%) for 6,453 yards, 40 touchdowns, 19 interceptions, 117 carries for -304 yards, and three touchdowns in 27 games for the Mountaineers.
In 2020, Doege completed 239 of 374 passes (64%) for 2,587 yards, 14 touchdowns, four interceptions, 40 carries for -101 yards, and two touchdowns in ten games. He was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, All-Big 12 Second Team, and All-Big 12 Fourth Team in 2020.
Ye’Majesty Sanders is six foot five and weighs 280 pounds. The 23-year-old from Columbus, Georgia, played 37 games in five seasons at Jacksonville State (2017-21) of which 29 were starts. In 2019, he played 12 games as a redshirt sophomore and the Gamecocks offensive line blocked for the top offense in the Ohio Valley Conference in which they gained 419 yards per game. In addition, the offensive line helped JSU’s passing game, leading the OVC and ranked 14th nationally with 296 yards per game.
In high school, Sanders was listed as the fourth offensive guard in Georgia and the 78th-best guard in the class of 2017. Furthermore, was a GHSA Class AA First Team All-State selection by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and by the Georgia Sports Writers Association as a senior in 2016, and named All-Bi-City by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.
After high school, he had offers from Mississippi State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida A&M, Georgia State, and Mercer before choosing Jacksonville State.
