The Toronto Argonauts re-signed former Duquesne wide receiver Cyrus Holder on Monday. Cyrus Holder is six foot four and weighs 205 pounds. Holder signed with the Argonauts on September 29th, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old from Uniondale, New York, was recently with the Vegas Vipers (XFL) after the Vipers drafted him in the fourth round (28th pick) in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. Before the Vipers, Holder signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent but was released a week later.

Collegiately, Holder played three seasons at St. Francis University (2016-18) with 62 catches for 1,150 yards, nine touchdowns, and one kick return for 13 yards in 25 games for the Red Flash. He was selected to Phil Steele’s Preseason Third Team All-NEC in 2018. He caught 47 passes for 692 yards, five touchdowns, and one kick return for 13 yards in ten games.

Afterward, Holder transferred to Duquesne (2020-21) with 60 catches for 1,120 yards, and 13 touchdowns in 15 games for the Dukes. In his first season with the Dukes, Holder caught 23 passes for 491 yards and five touchdowns in five games.

In addition, he was named NEC Offensive Player of the Week in the Spring 2021 season when he caught seven passes for a career-high 211 yards, and two touchdowns in a win against Long Island University.

In his final season with the Dukes, Holder caught 37 passes for 629 yards and eight touchdowns in ten games. He is a two-time First Team All-NEC.
