Saskatchewan Roughriders and WR Kian Schaffer-Baker agree to a two-year extension

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Wednesday. Schaffer-Baker is six foot four and weighs 205 pounds. He is coming off hip replacement surgery.

The 24-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, caught 68 passes for 960 yards, five touchdowns, and 13 carries for 74 yards in 2022. The Roughriders drafted Schaffer-Baker in the fourth round (30th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft.

In his rookie season, Schaffer-Baker caught 47 passes for 563 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. He was the Roughriders’ nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian in 2022 and Most Outstanding Rookie in 2021.

Collegiately, Schaffer-Baker played four seasons at the University of Guelph (2016-19) with 95 catches for 1,544 yards, and eight touchdowns in 28 games for the Gryphons. In the 2019 East-West Bowl, he led all receivers with five catches for 126 yards and one touchdown.
