The B.C. Lions signed former Minnesota State University Mankato kicker Casey Bednarski on Thursday. Casey Bednarski is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds.
The 26-year-old from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, played two games for the Wisconsin Hitmen of the MidStates Football League in 2019 converting a perfect 3-3 in field goals. His longest field goal went for 42 yards and averaged 49.5 yards per punt with three of them from inside the 20-yard line.
Bednarski went undrafted in 2019 and tried out for several teams including the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and Green Bay Packers.
Bednarski played football, track and field, and soccer at Oconomowoc High School. During his senior season, he was an All-State honors in both football and track and field. He helped Oconomowoc to an 11-1 record as his team advanced to the third round of the state playoffs. In addition, Bednarski claimed all-district honors as a wide receiver.
Collegiately, Bednarski played two seasons at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He converted 15 of 21 field goals (71.4%), including a career-long 46-yard field goal against Hocking. In addition, he made 31 of 34 extra point conversions and averaged 41.5 yards per punt for the Chaparrals.
Then, Bednarski transferred to Minnesota State University Mankato (2017-18) converting 40 of 50 field goals (80%), including a school-record 63-yard field goal set in 2017. He also had 183 kickoffs for 10,560 yards, 119 extra points made, and averaged 39.7 yards per punt in 28 games for the Mavericks.
He finished his career third all-time in scoring at Minnesota State with 243 points, and second all-time among kickers. Bednarski is a two-time All-NSIC First Team, AFCA All-American honors, and D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Second Team.
