The Montreal Alouettes re-signed linebacker Brian Harelimana to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season and signed former Rhode Island linebacker L.B. Mack III on Monday.
Brian Harelimana is six foot two and weighs 228 pounds. The 27-year-old from Laval, Quebec, had 18 tackles, six of them on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2022.
The Alouettes drafted Harelimana in the fourth round (33rd pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In two seasons, Harelimana has 23 tackles, nine of them on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 26 games.
Collegiately, Harelimana played three seasons at the University of Montreal (2017-19) with 87 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception, and nine pass breakups in 19 games for the Carabins. He was voted two-time RSEQ first-team all-star, First Team All-Canadian in 2018, and Second Team All-Canadian in 2019.
L.B. Mack III is six foot two and weighs 230 pounds. The 24-year-old from Spring Valley, New York, spent part of the 2022 season on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers practice squad.
Collegiately, Mack III played five seasons at Rhode Island (2016-21) with 172 tackles, 22 sacks, three fumble recoveries, five forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks on special teams in 46 games for the Rams.
Mack III was named 2021 CAA Football All-Conference Second Team, and was named STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week (10/2/17) with ten tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble against Brown.
