The Edmonton Elks signed former Salisbury University defensive back Josh Adewumi and former Merrimack College offensive lineman Erick Brown on Tuesday.
Josh Adewumi is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 22-year-old from Springdale, Maryland, had 36 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, one interception for nine yards, and four pass breakups in 11 games for the Sea Gulls in 2022.
Adewumi played four seasons at Salisbury University (2019-22) with 125 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions for 19 yards, 12 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 35 games.
Erick Brown is six foot four and weighs 320 pounds. The 26-year-old from Boston, Massachusetts, returns to the Elks after signing with them in 2021 but was released before training camp.
Collegiately, Brown played four seasons at Merrimack College (2016-19), starting 42 games at left tackle for the Warriors. He served as team captain in his final two seasons. In addition, he was named NE10 All-Conference Rookie Team in 2016 and NE10 All-Conference Second Team selection on offense in 2018.
