B.C. Lions quarterback Breylin Smith retires

On Friday, B.C. Lions quarterback Breylin Smith was transferred to the retired list. Smith signed with the Lions on November 24th. Smith is six foot three and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Little Rock, Arkansas, was on the Ottawa Redblacks practice squad in 2022.

Collegiately, Smith played five seasons at Central Arkansas (2017-21) completing 790 of 1260 passes (62.7%) for 9,536 yards, 84 touchdowns, 37 interceptions, and 192 carries for -10 yards, two touchdowns, and four punts for 91 yards, with two from inside the 20-yard line in 42 games for the Bears.

In his final season, Smith completed 220 of 341 passes (64.5%) for 2,884 yards, 26 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 38 carries for -10 yards, three touchdowns, and three punts for 71 yards, with two of them from inside the 20-yard line in ten games.

He was named Second-team All-Southland Conference in 2019, First Team sophomore All-American by Hero Sports in 2020, and was on the Walter Payton Award Watch List in 2021.
