The New Jersey Generals (1-1) took on the Pittsburgh Maulers (0-2) on Sunday afternoon from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
Coming into this game, both teams were looking for their first win of the season. The Generals dominated this game and defeated the Maulers by the final score of 20-3.
New Jersey quarterback De’Andre Johnson completed 9 of 13 passes (69.2%) for 100 yards, and four carries for 12 yards. Meanwhile, backup quarterback Dakota Prukop completed 4 of 8 passes (50%) for 36 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for nine yards.
New Jersey running back Darius Victor led the rushers with 15 carries for 71 yards, one touchdown, and two catches for five yards. Wide receiver Cam Echols-Luper led the receivers with four catches for 57 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Nick Sciba made two field goals and two extra points. His longest field goal went for 47 yards.
New Jersey’s defense allowed 166 yards, with 67 tackles, three tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Pittsburgh quarterback Troy Williams completed 11 of 16 passes (68.8%) for 70 yards, while backup quarterback James Morgan completed 8 of 14 passes (57.1%) for 54 yards, and one interception.
Pittsburgh running back Madre London led the rushers with ten carries for 38 yards, and one catch for 13 yards. Wide receiver Isiah Hennie led the receivers with nine catches for 53 yards. Kicker Nathan Hierlihy scored the Maulers’ only points converting one of two field goals. His longest field goal went for 47 yards.
Pittsburgh’s defense allowed 248 yards, with 62 tackles, three tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Next Sunday, the Pittsburgh Maulers take on the Philadelphia Stars at 12 pm on NBC, followed by the New Jersey Generals visiting the Michigan Panthers at 4 pm on FOX. Tickets for both of those games are available on StubHub and Viagogo.
