Montreal Alouettes linebacker Chris Ackie is retiring after an eight-year career in the CFL. The 31-year-old from Cambridge, Ontario, made 25 tackles (24 DT, 1 ST), and one interception in 13 games for the Alouettes in 2022.

The Montreal Alouettes drafted Ackie in the first round (4th pick) of the 2015 CFL Draft. He played three and a half seasons in his first stint in Montreal with 130 tackles (109 DT, 21 ST), two sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles in 52 games.

In the middle of the 2018 season, Montreal traded Ackie to the Ottawa Redblacks for a 2019 second-round draft pick. He made eight tackles (7 DT, 1 ST) in three games for the Redblacks.

He returned to Montreal in 2019 with 40 tackles (38 DT, 2 ST) in ten games. A year later, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts but the season was canceled due to the pandemic. Then, he returned to Montreal in 2021 and played the last two seasons of his career with 73 tackles (72 DT, 1 ST), six sacks, and three interceptions in 27 games.

Collegiately, Ackie played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2011-14) with 144 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 35 games for the Golden Hawks.
