Philadelphia Eagles draft two players in the third round

The Philadelphia Eagles made two more picks in the 2023 NFL Draft outside the Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday night. On day one, the Eagles took two Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Nolan Smith in the first round.

On Friday, the Eagles had one pick in the second round (62nd) and one in the third round (66th). In the second round, the Eagles traded the 62nd pick to the Houston Texans for the 65th, 188th, and 230th picks. With the 65th pick, the Eagles selected guard/center Tyler Steen from Alabama.

Tyler Steen is six foot five and weighs 315 pounds. The 22-year-old from Miami, Florida, had a production score of 66 and 78 in athleticism for a total score of 73 which ranks him 12th among offensive linemen. In addition, he had a 29.5 vertical jump, 9’ 1” broad jump, 4.59 20-yard shuttle, and benched-pressed 31 reps.

Collegiately, Steen played 38 games in four seasons at Vanderbilt (2018-21). He started 33 consecutive games playing left tackle and right tackle to close out his Vanderbilt career.

He is one of twelve true Freshmen to see time in 2018, playing defensive tackle as he made 1.5 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss before switching to the offensive side.

After Vanderbilt, Steen transferred to Alabama in 2022. He started all 13 games at left tackle. Steen helped the Crimson Tide’s offense finish fourth in scoring (41.1 PPG), 11th in offense (477.1 ypg), No. 19 passing offense (281.6 ypg), and the No. 36 rushing attack (195.5 ypg). Steen was named Second Team All-SEC and started the 2023 Senior Bowl.

With the 66th pick, the Eagles took defensive back Sydney Brown. Sydney Brown is five foot ten and weighs 211 pounds.

The 23-year-old from London, Ontario, had a production score of 66 and scored 89 in athleticism for a total score of 75. In addition, he ran a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, 1.51 in the 10-yard split, 40.5” in the vertical jump, 10’10” in the broad jump, and bench 23 reps.

Collegiately, Brown played five seasons at Illinois (2018-22) with 319 tackles, ten tackles for loss, two sacks, ten interceptions for 172 yards, two touchdowns, 26 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 51 games for the Fighting Illini.

In his final season, Brown had 59 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 86 yards, one touchdown, 13 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He was named First Team All-Big Ten, PFF All-American Third Team, and USA Today All-American Second Team.
