Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign defensive backs Carthell Flowers-Lloyd and Dexter Lawson

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Stony Brook defensive back Carthell Flowers-Lloyd and former Appalachian State defensive back Dexter Lawson on Wednesday.

Carthell Flowers-Lloyd is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 24-year-old from Syracuse, New York, was named CAA Football Third Team Defense in 2022 after playing his senior season at Stony Brook making 70 tackles (40 solo, 30 assists), 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception for 41 yards, one touchdown, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in ten games for the Seawolves.

Before Stony Brook, Flowers-Lloyd played three seasons at Eastern Michigan (2018-20) with 25 tackles (12 solo, 13 assists) in 31 games for the Eagles.

Dexter Lawson is five foot ten and weighs 190 pounds. The 23-year-old from Bloomfield, Connecticut, played one season at Appalachian State in 2022 with 26 tackles (6 solo, 20 assists), one tackle for loss, three interceptions for one yard, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games, of which ten were starts for the Mountaineers.

Before Appalachian State, Lawson played four seasons at Central Connecticut State (2018-21) with 74 tackles (45 solo, 29 assists), six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, eight interceptions for 85 yards, 13 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 29 games for the Blue Devils.

Lawson was named a Hero Sports First-Team Sophomore All-America honoree in 2019 after making 31 tackles (18 solo, 13 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 75 yards, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 13 games.
