The New Orleans Breakers (4-0) visited Tom Benson’s Hall of Fame Stadium on Sunday afternoon against the New Jersey Generals (2-2) in a potential championship game matchup.
Coming into this game, the Breakers were two-and-a-half-point favorites over the Generals. New Orleans running Wes Hills was the star of the game with 26 carries for 88 yards, two touchdowns, and seven catches for 71 yards, leading the Breakers to a 20-17 win over the Generals to stay undefeated. New Orleans kicker Matt Coghlin made two fields with a long of 25 yards.
New Orleans quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed 26 of 37 passes (70.3%) for 279 yards, one interception, and two carries for ten yards. Tight end Sage Surratt led the receivers with six catches for 94 yards. New Orleans’s defense allowed 278 yards, with 46 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
New Jersey quarterback De’Andre Johnson completed 7 of 14 passes (50%) for 113 yards, one touchdown, and five carries for 38 yards. Running backs Trey Williams and Darius Victor combined with 17 carries for 134 yards, one touchdown, and two catches for -4 yards.
New Jersey kicker Nick Sciba made one field goal with a long of 38 yards. New Jersey’s defense allowed 358 yards, with 84 tackles, three tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.
Next week, the New Jersey Generals visit the Philadelphia Stars on Sunday at 12 pm on NBC, followed by the New Orleans Breakers hosting the Memphis Showboats at 3 pm on FOX.
