The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Sam Houston State offensive lineman Jordan Boatman and released defensive back Zach Herzog on Tuesday.
Jordan Boatman is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 23-year-old from The Woodlands, Texas, played 25 games in four seasons at the University of Houston (2018-21) playing right tackle for the Cougars. Then, he transferred to Sam Houston State in 2022, playing seven games for the Bearkats.
Zach Herzog is five foot nine and weighs 192 pounds The 25-year-old from Winsor, Ontario, signed with the Ticats in January. Before Hamilton, he spent time in training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before going to UBC to finish his collegiate career. The Roughriders drafted Herzog in the seventh round (63rd pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Herzog played five seasons at Hillsdale College (2017-21) with 244 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and eight pass breakups in 30 games for the Chargers. In his final year, Herzog had 105 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and six pass breakups in 12 games.
Then, Herzog transferred to the University of British Columbia in 2022. He made 49 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups in eleven games for the Thunderbirds.
In high school, Herzog is a Three-time Windsor City MVP at Holy Names. In addition, Herzog was named First-Team All-Canadian in track and field, a Silver medalist in the 100-meter dash at the Windsor City meet, and helped the 4×100 relay team to a city championship.
