Ottawa Redblacks defensive back Jake Springer retires

The Ottawa Redblacks announced on Monday that they have moved defensive back Jake Springer to the retired list. Jake Springer is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds.

The 24-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, signed with the Redblacks in February. Before Ottawa, Springer attended rookie mini-camp with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. Collegiately, Spring played three seasons at Navy (2017-19) with 106 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, five kick returns for 78 yards, and 13 punt returns for 91 yards in 30 games for the Midshipmen.

In his final season at Navy in 2019. He made 69 tackles, eight sacks, two pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 13 games. He was named Second-Team All-ACC honors.

Then, Springer transferred to Ole Miss in 2021 with 58 tackles, one sack, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in nine games for the Rebels.
