Ottawa Redblacks sign five players including wide receiver CJ Lewis

The Ottawa Redblacks signed former Bowling Green wide receiver CJ Lewis, Eastern Washington wide receiver Talolo Limu-Jones, Colorado State defensive lineman C.J. Onyechi, Florida International defensive back Joshua Valentine-Turner, and Northern Colorado defensive back Komotay Koffie.

CJ Lewis is six foot three and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Hamden, Connecticut, played five seasons at Boston College (2017-22) with 55 catches for 817 yards, and six touchdowns in 38 games for the Eagles. Then, he transferred to Bowling Green in 2022 with 26 catches for 352 yards, and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Falcons.

Talolo Limu-Jones is six foot four and weighs 220 pounds. The 25-year-old from Vallejo, California, was with the Michigan Panthers (USFL). Before Michigan, he signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent and later signed with the Memphis Showboats.

Collegiately, Limu-Jones played five seasons at Eastern Washington (2017-21) with 161 catches for 2,722 yards, 21 touchdowns, one carry for 25 yards, and two kick returns for 44 yards in 53 games for the Eagles.

C.J. Onyechi is six foot and weighs 245 pounds. The 24-year-old from West Orange, New Jersey, played four seasons at Rutgers (2017, 2019-21) with 87 tackles (36 solo, 51 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one fumble recovery in 43 games for the Scarlet Knights. He was named an Academic All-Big Ten in 2021.

Then, he transferred to Colorado State in 2022 with 58 tackles (34 solo, 24 assists), nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Rams. He was an Honorable mention All-Mountain West in 2022.

Joshua Valentine-Turner is six foot and weighs 188 pounds. The 24-year-old from Deerfield, Florida, played three seasons at Florida International (2019-21) with 82 tackles (64 solo, 18 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 22 yards, and eight pass breakups in 23 games for the Panthers. He was named C-USA Honorable Mention Team in 2020.

Before Florida International, Valentine-Turner played two seasons at Iowa (2017-18) with five tackles (4 solo, 1 assist) in five games for the Hawkeyes.

Komotay Koffie is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Providence, Rhode Island (born in Sierra Leone), signed with the Northern Arizona Wranglers (IFL) in 2023 but was released. In 2022, Koffie attended two rookie minicamps for the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.

Collegiately, Koffie began at North Dakota State College of Science in 2016 with 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, and nine pass breakups in seven games for the Wildcats. Then, he transferred to New Mexico (2017-19) with 37 tackles (17 solo, 20 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, and three pass breakups in 18 games for the Aggies.

Then, he transferred to Northern Colorado in 2021 with 30 tackles (19 solo, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups in seven games for the Bears.

In addition to these signings, the Redblacks added punter Jake Julien, defensive lineman Alexander Fedchun, wide receiver Daniel Perry, defensive lineman Aiden John, defensive lineman Quinton Seguin, and wide receiver Emmanuel Butler.
