The Pittsburgh Maulers (2-3) visited Ford Field on Saturday afternoon against the Michigan Panthers in a North Division battle. Coming into this game, the Panthers were a three-point favorite over the Maulers.
Pittsburgh quarterback Troy Williams had a great afternoon completing 15 of 19 passes (78.9%) for 184 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, ten carries for 59 yards, and one touchdown as the Maulers beat the Panthers by the final score of 23-7. The Maulers and Panthers are now tied for second place in the North Division.
Pittsburgh running back Garrett Groshek finished second in rushing with 11 carries for 22 yards, and one catch for 19 yards. Wide receiver Bailey Gaither led the receivers with four catches for 89 yards, while Isiah Hennie made six catches for 62 yards, and one touchdown.
Pittsburgh’s defense allowed 152 yards, with 57 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Michigan quarterback Josh Love completed 8 of 12 passes (66.7%) for 68 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one carry for three yards, while backup quarterback Carson Strong completed 13 of 23 passes (56.5%) for 94 yards, one interception, and three carries for ten yards.
Michigan running back Reggie Corbin led the rushers with nine carries for 11 yards, and one catch for three yards, while wide receiver Ishmael Hyman had four catches for 43 yards. Michigan’s defense allowed 299 yards, with 64 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.
