Hamilton Tiger-Cats makes several moves including signing LB Carlton Martial

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Troy linebacker Carlton Martial and the University of Toronto offensive lineman Mojtaba Mehry on Sunday. In addition, The Ticats released kicker Peyton Henry and defensive backs Brandon Easterling and DeMarkus Acy.

Wide receiver Llevi Noel and offensive lineman Nicolas Guay were placed on the retired list, while kicker Seth Small and defensive lineman Ja’Gared Davis went on the suspended list.

Carlton Martial is five foot nine and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Mobile, Alabama, played five seasons at Troy (2018-22) with 577 tackles (255 solo, 322 assists), 50.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, six interceptions for 117 yards, one touchdown, 15 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 59 games for the Trojans. He is a four-time First Team All-Sun Belt and is the NCAA FBS career tackles record holder.

Mojtaba Mehry is six foot five and weighs 300 pounds. The 25-year-old from Leamington, Ontario, spent two training camps with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021 and 2022.

Collegiately, Mehry played 31 games in four seasons at the University of Toronto (2018-19, 2021-22) playing right tackle along with one catch for three yards, and one touchdown for the Varsity Blues. He was twice named the University of Toronto’s Lineman of the Year.
