Ottawa Redblacks signs three players including DL Divine Obichere

The Ottawa Redblacks signed former Boise State defensive lineman Divine Obichere, Arizona State offensive lineman Des Holmes, and Hawaii defensive back Hugh Nelson II on Sunday.

Divine Obichere is six foot two and weighs 277 pounds. The 22-year-old from Los Angeles, California, made 30 tackles (11 solo, 19 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and one pass breakup in 13 games for the Broncos. He finished with the third-most tackles for loss in Boise State’s era.

Collegiately, Obichere played three seasons at Boise State (2020-22) with 61 tackles (23 solo, 28 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and two pass breakups in 28 games.

Des Holmes is six foot five and weighs 307 pounds. The 23-year-old from Norristown, Pennsylvania, played ten games for the Arizona State Sun Devils in 2022 playing left tackle.

Before Arizona State, Holmes played 21 games in three seasons at Penn State (2018-20) playing left tackle for the Nittany Lions. In 2020, he helped the Nittany Lion offense gain 488 yards, including 250 on the ground.

Hugh Nelson II is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 23-year-old from Powder Springs, Georgia, played two seasons at the University of Hawaii (2021-22) with 67 tackles (44 solo, 23 assists), three tackles for loss, two interceptions for two yards, 16 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one punt return for 11 yards in 26 games for the Rainbow Warriors. Before Hawaii, Nelson played one season at Georgia in 2019 with one tackle in one game for the Bulldogs.
