Philadelphia Eagles sign Orlando wide receiver Charleston Rambo

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Orlando Guardians (XFL) wide receiver Charleston Rambo on Tuesday after an impressive minicamp tryout. In addition, the Eagles released offensive lineman Jarrid Williams.

Charleston Rambo is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 23-year-old from Cedar Hill, Texas, finished second in receiving with 35 catches for 430 yards, and four touchdowns in ten games for the Orlando Guardians in 2023. The Guardians drafted Rambo in the first round (4th pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft.

Before Orlando, Rambo signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but was released on August 30th. Collegiately, Rambo played four seasons at Oklahoma (2017-20) with 76 catches for 1,180 yards, nine touchdowns, four carries for 37 yards, 13 kick returns for 326 yards, and one punt return for 11 yards.

Then, Rambo transferred to Miami (FL) in 2021 with 79 catches for 1,172 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games for the Hurricanes. He was named Second Team All-ACC.

Jarrid Williams is six foot six and weighs 308 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cedar Hill, Texas, signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and was placed on the practice squad. After being released by the Eagles, Williams signed with the Detroit Lions and was placed on the practice squad before returning to Philadelphia in January.

Collegiately, Williams played 28 games in four seasons at the University of Houston (2016-19) playing right tackle. In 2018, Williams blocked for an offense that finished the season ranked fifth nationally in scoring offense (43.9 points per game), seventh in total offense (512.5 yards per game), 16th passing offense (295.5 yards per game), and 24th in rushing offense (217.1 yards per game). He was named Athlon Sports Preseason American Athletic Conference Second Team in 2019.

After Houston, Williams transferred to Miami (FL) in 2020 and played 23 games in two seasons with the Hurricanes. He helped lead the offense to a 512-yard output in the 2020 Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma State.
