Edmonton Elks signs DB Darrius Bratton and release three players

The Edmonton Elks signed former Virginia defensive back Darrius Bratton on Wednesday. Darrius Bratton is six foot and weighs 200 pounds.

The 25-year-old from Roanoke, Virginia, made 22 tackles (10 solo, 12 assists), half tackle for loss, and a half a sack in nine games for the Cavaliers, of which three were starts. Bratton played five seasons at Virginia (2017-22) with 77 tackles (54 solo, 23 assists), one tackle for loss, half a sack, and 14 pass breakups in 52 games, of which 14 were starts.

At Virginia’s pro day, Bratton had a 38.5” in the vertical jump, 11’3” in the broad jump, and clocked a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash. He was later invited to the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp.

In addition, the Elks released running back Lyndemian Brooks, and wide receivers Quan Harrison and Raphael Leonard.

Lyndemian Brooks is five foot eight and weighs 170 pounds. The 25-year-old from Austin, Texas, played nine games at Prairie View A&M University in 2021 with 90 carries for 467 yards, five touchdowns, and 28 catches for 238 yards.

Before joining the Panthers, Brooks played five seasons at Grambling State (2016-2020) with 168 carries for 867 yards, six touchdowns, 48 catches for 551 yards, and four touchdowns in 41 games.

Quan Harrison is five foot nine and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from Greeneville, Tennessee, played two seasons at West Georgia (2019,2021) with 80 catches for 1,162 yards, six touchdowns, two carries for seven yards, 15 kick returns for 339 yards, seven punt returns for 144 yards, and one touchdown in 20 games for the Wolves. He was named Second Team All-GSC as a wide receiver and a return specialist.

Before West Georgia, Harrison played two seasons at East Tennessee State (2017-18) with 20 catches for 263 yards, one touchdown, two carries for four yards, 23 kick returns for 532 yards, 19 punt returns for 180 yards, and one touchdown in 19 games for the Buccaneers.

Raphael Leonard is six foot two and weighs 190 pounds. The 25-year-old from Starkville, Mississippi, played five games for Edmonton this year as a wide receiver and two games as a defensive back.

Collegiately, Leonard played two seasons at Southern Illinois (2017-18) with 91 catches for 1,377 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2016, caught 23 passes for 360 yards and seven touchdowns at East Mississippi Community College and caught one pass for eight yards for Florida Atlantic in 2015.
