The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former New Hampshire wide receiver Sean Coyne on Wednesday. In addition, Winnipeg released ten players and placed wide receiver/returner Janarion Grant on the suspended list.
Sean Coyne is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp. Before Montreal, Coyne caught 27 passes for 386 yards, four touchdowns, five carries for 25 yards, and four punt returns for 34 yards in 13 games for the Wildcats in 2022.
Coyne played four seasons at New Hampshire (2017-18, 2021-22) with 88 catches for 892 yards, 11 touchdowns, 22 carries for 108 yards, two touchdowns, two kick returns for 11 yards, and ten punt returns for 55 yards in 36 games.
The ten players Winnipeg released on Wednesday are quarterback Billy Hall, wide receiver Timothy Knuettel, offensive linemen Brandon Sanford and Payton Muljo, defensive lineman Jadrian Taylor, linebacker Christian Dixon, defensive backs Deuce Wallace, Gee Stanley, and Charles-Antoine Beaulieu, and punter Devin Anctil.
Billy Hall is six foot three and weighs 200 pounds. The 23-year-old from Scott, Tennessee, completed 108 of 199 passes (54.3%) for 1,670 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 12 games for the Eagles.
He led the Eagles to a 9-3 record, a sixth consecutive Mid-South Conference Championship, and was named Academic All-Conference honors. The Eagles lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Keiser University in the 2021-22 season.
During the season, Hall was twice named MSC Appalachian Offensive Player of the Week after completing 12 of 19 passes (63.2%) for 237 yards, three touchdowns, and eight carries for 35 yards against the Union Bulldogs in a 47-7 win on November 6th.
His first MSC Appalachian Offensive Player of the Week came on October 9th in a 49-35 win over the Bluefield as Hall completed 13 of 15 passes (86.7%) for 224 yards, four touchdowns, ten carries for 53 yards, and two touchdowns.
Hall played three seasons at Reinhardt (2019-21) completing 255 of 464 passes (55%) for 4,132 yards, 45 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 244 carries for 1,407 yards, and 17 touchdowns in 29 games for the Eagles.
Timothy Knuettel is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 30-year-old from Berlin, Germany, was on the Blue Bombers practice squad in 2022. He joined the team after playing with the Rhein Fire (ELF) this year with 57 catches for 688 yards and seven touchdowns in ten games.
In the 2021 season, Knuettel played for the Leipzig Kings (ELF) with 51 catches for 701 yards and 12 touchdowns in ten games. Collegiately, Knuettel played at Seton Hall. In 2017, he had 41 catches for 444 yards in ten games.
Brandon Sanford is six foot four and weighs 333 pounds. The 24-year-old from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, signed with the Blue Bombers in 2022 but did not make the team. Collegiately, Sanford played 19 games at right guard in six years at UBC (2016-21) for the Thunderbirds. Sanford attended the 2022 CFL West Regional Combine.
Payton Muljo is six foot six and weighs 314 pounds. The 24-year-old from Marquette, Michigan, played 27 games in four seasons at Northern Michigan University (2017-21) playing left tackle for the Wildcats. In 2018, he helped the Wildcats set a new Single Season Rushing Record, and in 2021 received an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.
After college, he signed with the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League but did not play a game. Later, he signed with the Blue Bombers and spent a portion of the 2022 season on their practice squad.
Jadrian Taylor is six foot one and weighs 246 pounds. The 23-year-old from Lufkin, Texas, had 42 tackles (21 solo, 21 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Minors in 2022.
Jadrian Taylor played three seasons at UTEP (2020-22) with 81 tackles (42 solo, 39 assists), 19.5 sacks, 16 sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 32 games. He was an Honorable Mention All-Conference USA in 2021 after making 33 tackles (19 solo, 14 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 13 games.
Before UTEP, Taylor played two seasons at Kilgore College (2018-19) with 53 tackles (35 solo, 18 assists), eight sacks, and two forced fumbles in 21 games for the Rangers.
Christian Dixon is five foot ten and weighs 220 pounds. The 24-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, played one season at Middle Tennessee State with 46 tackles (22 solo, 24 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 13 games for the Blue Raiders in 2022. He was named Third Team PFF College All-C-USA.
Before Middle Tennessee State, Dixon played four seasons at Towson (2017-19, 2021) with 159 tackles (90 solo, 59 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 33 games for the Tigers.
Deuce Wallace is five foot ten and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, played two preseason games for the Saints in 2021 with four tackles.
Collegiately, Wallace played four seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2016-19) as a walk-on with 73 tackles, one sack, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 40 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
In his senior year, Wallace had 22 tackles and one pass breakup in 15 games. He was voted captain in his senior year and was a Burlsworth Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy nominee.
Gee Stanley is six foot two and weighs 195 pounds. The 25-year-old from Miami, Florida, was set to play for the Arkansas Attack (MLFB) in the 2022 season but it was canceled.
Collegiately, Stanley played one season at Robert Morris in 2016 with 59 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 11 games for the Colonials. He was named Northeast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year and HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-American.
Then, Stanley transferred to Coffeyville Community College (Kansas) in 2018 with 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in ten games for the Red Ravens.
Afterward, Stanley transferred to Emporia State (2019, 2021) with 132 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 23 games for the Hornets.
In his final season, Stanley had 67 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games.
Stanley was a three-star prospect by 247sports.com and a two-star prospect by Rivals at Coral Gables High School in Miami, Florida. He was a Top 100 outside linebacker recruit in the 2016 class. He was named Florida Class 8A all-state third team after making 104 tackles in his senior season.
Charles-Antoine Beaulieu is six foot one and weighs 192 pounds. The 25-year-old from Quebec, Quebec, made 16 tackles (14 solo, 2 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries in five games for the Laval Rouge Et Or in 2022.
Beaulieu played five seasons at Laval (2018-22) with 47 tackles (30 solo, 17 assists), two tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and three pass breakups in 25 games. He was part of two Vanier Cup championship teams in 2018 and 2022.
Devin Anctil is six foot one and weighs 234 pounds. The 25-year-old from Lenexa, Kansas, took part in the Nick Novack Showcase in 2022. Collegiately, Anctil played one season at Coffeyville Community College. He earned First-Team all-region and all-conference honors.
Anctil averaged 37.59 yards on 46 punts during the 2015 season, including a season-long of 55 yards against Ellsworth CC and Hutchinson CC. In addition, Anctil converted 31 extra points.
Then, Anctil transferred to Kansas State (2017-19) averaging 44.80 yards on 83 punts for a total of 3,718 yards in 20 games with the Wildcats. In addition, Anctil had 12 kickoffs for 689 yards (57.4) with three touchbacks. Anctil was selected to the Second Team All-Big 12 in 2019.
Janarion Grant is five foot nine and weighs 160 pounds. The 29-year-old from Fort Trilby, Florida, had six catches for 54 yards, eight carries for 74 yards, 31 kick returns for 782 yards, one touchdown, 63 punt returns for 817 yards, two touchdowns, and three missed field goal returns for 90 yards in 16 games for the Blue Bombers in 2022.
The Blue Bombers signed Grant as a free agent in 2019 after spending time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice squad. In 33 games, Grant has eight catches for 60 yards, eight carries for 74 yards, 68 kick returns for 1,665 yards, one touchdown, 138 punt returns for 1,783 yards, six touchdowns, and five missed field goal returns for 90 yards.
Grant signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played two games on special teams with two kick returns for 56 yards and seven punt returns for 52 yards. After the Ravens, he spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice squad in 2019.
Collegiately, Grant played five seasons at Rutgers University (2013-17) with 99 catches for 1,062 yards, two touchdowns, 36 carries for 344 yards, four touchdowns, 115 kick returns for 2,857 yards, five touchdowns, 52 punt returns for 588 yards, and three touchdowns in 49 games for the Scarlet Knights. Grant was a 2013 Second Team All-American Athletic Conference, 2015 Second Team All-Big Ten, and 2015 Rutgers Special Teams MVP.
