The Lehigh Valley Phantoms and forward Garrett Wilson agreed to a two-year contract extension on May 11th through the 2024-25 season.

Wilson scored 18 goals and 25 assists (43 points) with 195 PIM in 68 games including two hat tricks for the Phantoms in the 2022-23 season. He was the most penalized player in the AHL. In addition, he had one assist in the playoffs. This will be Wilson’s fourth season in Lehigh Valley.

“I’m pumped to be coming back to this first-class organization. They do it the right way here. I’m excited to get back and keep building,” said Wilson. “It’s huge. My first child was born in Allentown so it’s got a little spot in my heart there. So it’s nice that we’ll be coming back for a couple more years.”

In three seasons in Lehigh Valley, Wilson has 36 goals and 49 assists (85 points), 310 PIM, nine power play goals, and three game-winning goals in 165 games.

In addition, Lehigh Valley, Wilson has played for the Toronto Marlies, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Portland Pirates, and San Antonio Rampage with 130 goals and 160 assists (190 assists), 924 PIM, 34 power play goals, one shorthand goal, 15 game-winning goals, and three shootout goals in 578 games.

Wilson began his pro career in the 2011-12 season with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) and played two seasons with 36 goals and 38 assists (64 points) and 106 PIM in 101 games. In addition, he scored four goals and one assist (5 points), and 17 PIM in 15 ECHL playoff games.

Before the ECHL, Wilson played four seasons in the OHL for the Windsor Spitfires and the Owen Sound Attack with 94 goals and 90 assists (184 points), and 240 PIM in 191 games. In addition, Wilson scored 12 goals and 13 assists (25 points) with 35 PIM in 29 OHL playoff games. In the 2010-11 season, Wilson scored 40 goals and 46 assists (86 points) with 114 PIM in 66 games for the Owen Sound Attack.

In the OHL playoffs, he scored 11 goals and 10 assists (21 points) with 28 PIM helping the Attack win the OHL championship. He was also named an OHL First All-Star Team.

“It’s a familiar spot and I’m comfortable here,” Wilson said. “Our rink is first class. Dressing room is unbelievable. The staff, coaching staff, owners, front office…everyone here is kind of like a family and it just feels right at home for me and I feel like I fit in well.”
