The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed former Auburn offensive lineman Brandon Council on Thursday. Brandon Council is six foot four and weighs 328 pounds.

The 25-year-old from Tar Heel, North Carolina, attended the New York Jets rookie minicamp before signing with Saskatchewan. Collegiately, Council played 27 games in three seasons at Auburn (2020-22) playing all five positions for the Tigers. He concluded his collegiate career by playing in the NFLPA Collegiate All-Star Game.

Before Auburn, Council played 25 games in three seasons at Akron (2017-19), making 24 starts playing left and right tackle, left guard, and center. In 2017, Council helped the Zips to 443 yards of total offense and four passing touchdowns while securing Akron’s top spot in the MAC East.

To make room for Council, the Roughriders released OL Jordan Tucker.

Jordan Tucker is six foot six and weighs 340 pounds. The 24-year-old from Roswell, Georgia, signed with the Roughriders in February. Before Saskatchewan, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

Collegiately, Tucker played four seasons at North Carolina (2018-21). He played 45 games, of which 35 were starts at right tackle. In 2021, he started nine games at right tackle.

The Tar Heels’ offense averaged 35.2 points per game (19th NCAA/3rd ACC), 468.2 total yards per game (10th NCAA/4th ACC), including 255.7 passing yards per game (42nd NCAA/6th ACC), and 212.5 rushing yards per game (18th NCAA/2nd ACC in 2021.
