The B.C. Lions released defensive back Alex McCalister on Wednesday. Alex McCalister is six foot six and weighs 240 pounds.

The 29-year-old from Fort Stewart, Georgia, signed with the Lions in December. Before The Lions, McCalister played one game for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2022 with one tackle. The Philadelphia Eagles drafted McCalister in the seventh round (240th pick) in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He spent two seasons on the Eagles practice squad before being released in October 2017. Two months later, he signed with the Washington Redskins but was cut during training camp in 2018.

Collegiately, McCalister played three seasons at the University of Florida (2013-15) with 52 tackles (29 solo, 23 assists), 18.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 25 games for the Gators.
