Former Reading Royals defenseman and captain Garrett McFadden signed with HK Poprad of the Slovak Extraliga league. Garrett McFadden is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds.
The 25-year-old from Owen Sound, Ontario, scored six goals and 35 assists (41 points) in 71 games for the Royals in the 2022-23 season. In addition, McFadden scored one goal and eight assists (9 points) in 11 ECHL playoff games.
McFadden played two seasons for the Royals scoring nine goals and 45 assists (54 points) in 99 games. In addition, he scored two goals and ten assists (12 points) in 22 playoff games.
McFadden played five seasons for the Guelph Storm (OHL) with 32 goals and 115 assists (147 points) in 292 games. In addition, he scored three goals and six assists (9 points) in 15 playoff games.
In the 2013-14 season, McFadden scored one goal and seven assists (8 points) in 42 games as the Storm won the OHL championship. He is a two-time OHL All-Star, and two-time OHL Humanitarian of the Year (Dan Snyder Trophy).
In 2017, McFadden got his first taste in the AHL with the Laval Rocket getting one assist in four games. Collegiately, he played four seasons at Acadia University (2018-21) scoring 16 goals and 53 assists (69 points) in 76 games for the Axemen.
In addition, he scored three goals and two assists (5 points) in ten USports playoff games. He was named USports (AUS) All-Rookie Team in 2018, and USports (AUS) Second All-Star Team in 2019.
Internationally, McFadden played for Team Canada in the World Hockey Championship U17 in 2013 with three assists in four games.
