The New Orleans Breakers (5-3) hosted the Michigan Panthers (2-6) on Sunday afternoon from Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.
Coming into this game, the Panthers had a chance to retake first place in the North Division with a win, while the Breakers looked to stay on pace in the South Division.
New Orleans quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed 25 of 34 passes (73.5%) for 328 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a Breakers 24-20 win over the Panthers.
Running back Wes Hills led the rushers with 23 carries for 36 yards, one touchdown, and four catches for 37 yards, while wide receiver Johnnie Dixon led the receivers with nine catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Kicker Matt Coghlin made one field goal for 19 yards and converted three extra points. New Orleans’s defense allowed 242 yards (4.7 YPP), with 48 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Michigan quarterback Josh Love completed 22 of 32 passes (68.8%) for 221 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and two carries for eight yards. Running back Reggie Corbin led the rushers with 11 carries for 45 yards, and two catches for 19 yards, and wide receivers Joe Walker, Trey Quinn, and tight end Marcus Baugh combined with 11 catches for 153 yards, and two touchdowns.
Kicker Cole Murphy converted two of three field goals with a long of 37 yards and made two extra points. Michigan’s defense allowed 357 yards (5.6 YPP), with 70 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
