The Ocean City Nor’easters (3-0-1) played the Reading United AC (1-1-3) on Saturday night at Alvernia University’s John Gurski Stadium.
This is one of the longest rivalries in USL League Two history dating back to 1997 as the Nor’easters lead the all-time series 24-22-9. This was the 56th meeting between these two teams. Last season, Ocean City went 2-0-1 against Reading United AC.
Ocean City took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute when Nick Pariano made a corner kick as Alessandro Arlotti scored his first goal of the season the ninth of his Ocean City career.
In stoppage time Shuma Sasaki curled the ball from the left side passing goalkeeper Stefano Camerlengo, and into the top right corner of the net, tying the game 1-1. Reading almost had another goal in stoppage time but the final whistle blew.
With the draw, the Nor’easters extend their regular season unbeaten streak to 19 games (ties a club record), extend their club record road unbeaten streak to 17 games, and extend their unbeaten streak against Reading United AC to seven games.
The Nor’easters head to Kildare’s Field on Tuesday night against West Chester United SC at 7:30 pm before returning to Carey Stadium next Saturday against Lehigh Valley United at 7 pm. Tickets for all Ocean City home games can be purchased at OceanCityFC.com.
