Ocean City extends its unbeaten streak to 20 games

The Ocean City Nor’easters (4-0-1) visited Kildare’s Field on Tuesday night against West Chester United SC (3-1-1) in their first meeting of the season. This was the second visit to Kildare’s Field as the two teams met on March 21st in the opening game of the 2023 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in which the Nor’easters won.

Coming into this game, Ocean City were 5-2-1 against West Chester United SC. Last season, the Nor’easters swept the season series in three highly competitive games. The winner of this game took sole possession of first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division.

In the 16th minute, West Chester United SC had scored a goal but it was waived off due to a foul, keeping the game scoreless. In the 35th minute, Ocean City took a 1-0 lead when Brad Dildy made a cross pass into the box for a Ryan Becher goal. The Nor’easters led 1-0 at halftime.

In the 67th minute, Sander Roed almost had a goal with a cross into the box but Brady McSwain made the save. The Nor’easters almost extended their lead in the 78th minute when Galen Flynn’s shot missed to the top right corner.

In the 88th minute, Ocean City put the game away as Alessandro Arlotti made a cross pass to Sander Roed for the goal, extending their lead to 2-0. It was Roed’s fourth goal of the season.

Ocean City goalkeeper Stefano Camerlengo earned a clean sheet as the Nor’easters took over sole possession of first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division (13 points) with a 2-0 win over West Chester United SC. Camerlengo is now 3-0-1 allowing two goals.

With the win, the Nor’easters extend their unbeaten streak to 20 games, 18 of them on the road, and their fifth straight win over West Chester United SC.
