The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released offensive lineman Brandon Kemp and placed wide receiver Richie Sindani on the suspended list on Thursday. In addition, the Ticats promoted defensive back Carthell Flowers-Lloyd to the active roster and re-signed defensive back Richard Leonard.

Brandon Kemp is six foot seven and weighs 310 pounds. The 26-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, signed with the Ticats in September 2022 and was placed on the practice squad. Before Hamilton, Kemp attended training camp for the Indianapolis Colts this year after spending two seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Collegiately, Kemp played 43 games in five seasons at Valdosta State (2015-19), helping Valdosta State finish the 2018 season undefeated and win the Division II National Championship over Ferris State 49-47. The Blazers’ offense finished the year as the highest-scoring team (728 points), averaging 52 points per game.

Richie Sindani is six foot two and weighs 220 pounds. The 27-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, signed with the Ticats on May 28th.

Before Hamilton, he made 26 catches for 255 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games for Calgary in 2022. However, in January 2023, the CFL suspended Sindani for two games by the CFL for testing positive for the banned substances Methandienone and Stanozolol. This is Sindani’s first violation but he was released by Calgary on February 14th, 2023.

Then, Sindani signed with the New Orleans Breakers (USFL) a day after his release. He was transferred to the team’s inactive list on March 19th, and activated from the suspended list on March 26th. Unfortunately, the Breakers released him on April 4th, 2023.

The Stampeders drafted Sindani in the eighth round (70th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. In four seasons with Calgary, Sindani played 60 games with 92 catches for 986 yards and three touchdowns. He helped Calgary win the 2018 Grey Cup championship.

Collegiately, Sindani played 20 games in three seasons (2013-2015) at the University of Regina with 33 catches for 467 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2016, Sindani played eight games for the Calgary Colts (CJFL) with 31 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns. In 2017, he transferred to the University of Calgary, playing six games with 23 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Carthell Flowers-Lloyd is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 24-year-old from Syracuse, New York, signed with the Ticats on May 3rd.

Before Hamilton, he was named CAA Football Third Team Defense in 2022 after playing his senior season at Stony Brook making 70 tackles (40 solo, 30 assists), 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception for 41 yards, one touchdown, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in ten games for the Seawolves.

Before Stony Brook, Flowers-Lloyd played three seasons at Eastern Michigan (2018-20) with 25 tackles (12 solo, 13 assists) in 31 games for the Eagles.

He was named a CFL East All-Star in 2022.

Before the CFL, Leonard signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2016 but was released with an injury settlement after injuring his hamstring. In 2017, he signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and played three seasons with 179 tackles (178 DT, 1 ST), 12 interceptions for 256 yards, one touchdown, 31 pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 49 games.

Then, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 2021 with 25 tackles (25 solo), one sack, one interception for two yards, and three pass breakups in 13 games. He is a three-time CFL East All-Star (2017, 2019, 2022) and a CFL All-Star (2019).
