The Winnipeg Blue Bombers promoted offensive lineman Jakub Szott and long-snapper Damian Jackson to the active roster on Friday.
Jakub Szott is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 24-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, signed with the Alouettes in October 2022 but later was released on May 9th. Before Montreal, he played 14 games for the Redblacks last season.
The Redblacks drafted Szott in the fourth round (29th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft from McMaster University. Szott played 37 games in four seasons with the Marauders from 2016-19.
Damian Jackson is six foot two and weighs 263 pounds. The 30-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, signed with the Blue Bombers on May 8th. Before Winnipeg, Jackson played one season at the University of Buffalo in 2022 with 26 tackles (9 solo, 17 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Bulls.
Before Buffalo, Jackson spent five seasons at the University of Nebraska (2018-21) with 11 tackles (4 solo, 7 assists) and half tackle for loss in 20 games for the Cornhuskers. He won the Armed Forces Merit Award in 2021.
