The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Calgary Stampeders defensive back Brad Muhammad and former B.C. Lions defensive lineman Miles Fox on Monday. To make room for both players, the Blue Bombers released defensive back Matt Cole and defensive lineman Caleb Thomas. Both players were on the Blue Bombers practice squad.

Brad Muhammad is five foot ten and weighs 189 pounds. The 27-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, was released by Calgary on June 3rd. Muhammad made 55 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 16 games with the Stampeders in 2022. In 2021, he played for the Ottawa Redblacks with 14 tackles in five games.

Before the CFL, Muhammad signed with the Cedar Rapids River Kings (IFL) but never played a game, and played for the Albany Empire (AFL) in 2019 with 12 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups in four games. The Empire won ArenaBowl XXXII in the AFL’s final season.

Collegiately, Muhammad played two seasons at Florida International (2013, 2017) with 63 tackles (47 solo, 16 assists), nine pass breakups, four interceptions for 25 yards, one touchdown, and one blocked kick in 20 games for the Panthers. In his final season, Muhammad had 51 tackles, four interceptions, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 13 games for the Panthers. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA in 2017.

Miles Fox is six foot one and weighs 297 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia, played three games for the Lions in 2022 with three tackles. He mainly spent the season on the team’s practice squad.

Collegiately, Fox played four seasons at Old Dominion (2015-18) with 116 tackles (52 solo, 64 assists), 16.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 39 games for the Monarchs. He missed the 2019 season due to a Torn Achilles injury. In 2017, Fox was an All-Conference USA honorable mention. Then, Fox transferred to Wake Forrest (2020-21) with 58 tackles (31 solo, 27 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 21 games for the Demon Deacons. In addition, Fox was named 2020 Third Team All-ACC.

Matt Cole is five foot ten and weighs 197 pounds. The 26-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, signed with Winnipeg on May 8th. Before Winnipeg, he was on the Washington Commanders practice squad in 2022. Before Washington, he signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

He later signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020, making his debut in the regular season finale with two tackles on special teams. Later, Cole had stints with the New York Jets, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks.

Collegiately, Cole played three seasons at McKendree University (2017-19) with 85 catches for 1,417 yards, 16 touchdowns, 46 carries for 313 yards, one touchdown, 43 kick returns for 1,333 yards, three touchdowns, 16 punt returns for 251 yards, one touchdown, and 18 tackles in 31 games for the Bearcats.

Caleb Thomas is six foot one and weighs 300 pounds. The 23-year-old from Mansfield, Texas, signed with Winnipeg on May 12th. Before Winnipeg, Thomas played two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe (2021-22) with 43 tackles (15 solo, 28 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 15 games for the Warhawks. In 2021, he earned All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention after making 37 tackles (12 solo, 25 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 12 games.

Before Louisiana-Monroe, Thomas played three seasons at the University of Connecticut (2017-19) with 43 tackles (15 solo, 28 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one blocked kick in 24 games for the Huskies.
