The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Jarrod Hewitt and Denver Broncos running back/wide receiver Tyreik McAllister on Tuesday. To make room for them, the Ticats released defensive linemen Nyles Pinckney and Kwaku Boateng.

Jarrod Hewitt is six foot one and weighs 290 pounds. The 25-year-old from Venice, Florida, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and spent two seasons on the practice squad.

Before Seattle, Hewitt played four seasons at Virginia Tech (2017-20) with 92 tackles (42 solo, 50 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two pass breakups, seven quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 45 games, of which 33 were starts for the Hokies. He was named Third Team All-ACC in 2020.

Tyreik McAllister is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds. The 25-year-old from Latta, South Carolina, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and spent one season on the practice squad.

Before Denver, McAllister played five seasons at the University of Charleston (2017-21) with 355 carries for 2,561 yards, 26 touchdowns, 113 catches for 1,047 yards, four touchdowns, 17 kick returns for 332 yards, and 18 punt returns for 181 yards in 38 games for the Golden Eagles. In 2019, he was named the Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-Super Region One Second Team honoree and First Team All-MEC.

Nyles Pinckney is six foot one and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from Beaufort, South Carolina, was on the Ticats practice squad. Before Hamilton, he attended rookie minicamp for the New Orleans Saints in 2022.

Collegiately, Pinckney played four seasons at Clemson (2017-20) with 98 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and scored one rushing touchdown in 55 games for the Tigers.

Then, Pinckney transferred to Minnesota in 2021 with 29 tackles (18 solo, 11 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 13 games for the Golden Gophers.

Kwaku Boateng is six foot two and weighs 257 pounds. The 28-year-old from Ghana signed a one-year contract with the Ticats on February 15th. Before Hamilton, Boateng signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2022 but he suffered an injury and did not play the season. In 2021, He played for the Edmonton Elks with 15 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games.

The Elks drafted Boateng in the fifth round (41st pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. Boateng played four seasons in Edmonton with 83 tackles, 25 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 64 games.

Collegiately, Boateng played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier (2013-16) with 105 tackles (87 solo, 39 assists), 45.5 tackles for loss, 29.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 40 games for the Golden Hawks.
