The Repco Supercars Championship returned to Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin, Northern Territory, for races 14 and 15 on Sunday in the Betr Darwin Triple Crown.
In Race 14, Red Bull Ampol Racing driver Broc Feeney started the race on the pole. It was Feeney’s third pole of the season. Joining next to him on the front row was R&J Batteries Racing driver Andre Heimgartner.
Red Bull Ampol Racing driver Broc Feeney took the lead heading into turn one over Heimgartner. Behind them, Declan Fraser and Matt Payne collided through Turn 7. During the incident, Jack Le Brocq checked up and was drilled by Jack Smith, who was forced to retire from the race.
On lap 18, Heimgartner went to pit road and Feeney responded by pitting a lap later and kept the lead. Late in the race, Shane Van Gisbergen passed Heimgartner for second place. Feeney won his first race at Darwin, his fourth of the season, and the third from pole position by 1.4 seconds over his teammate Van Gisbergen.
The rest of the top ten finishers were Andre Heimgartner third, Brodie Kostecki fourth, Will Brown fifth, James Golding sixth, Macauley Jones seventh, Bryce Fullwood eighth, Scott Pye ninth, and Thomas Randle tenth.
In Race 15, Truck Assist Racing driver Jack Le Brocq started the race on the pole. It was the first pole of the season for Le Brocq in the 185th career race. Joining next to him on the front row was R&J Batteries Racing driver Andre Heimgartner.
It was a relatively clean race. The only major incident happened between Brodie Kostecki and Anton De Pasquale when Kostecki broke his steering after making contact with Pasquale at turn six. Kostecki went to the garage and came out three laps down.
Jack Le Brocq led all 35 laps to win the first Supercars race of his career by 1.3499 over Andre Heimgartner. It was also the first win for MSR in 172 attempts, which started in 2017 with Todd Hazelwood as the driver.
Heading into NTI Townsville 500, Brodie Kostecki’s lead is now down to 59 points ahead of Will Brown, and 91 points ahead of Brock Feeney.
The rest of the top ten finishers were Broc Feeney third, Shane Van Gisbergen fourth, Cam Waters fifth, Will Brown sixth, Mark Winterbottom seventh, Will Davison eighth, Chaz Mostert ninth, and Todd Hazelwood tenth.
The Repco Supercars Championship heads to Reid Park Street Circuit in Townsville, Queensland, for the NTI Townsville 500 from July 7th through the 9th.
