New Orleans Breakers are headed to the USFL Playoffs

The New Orleans Breakers (7-3) punched their ticket to the USFL Playoffs for the second straight year on Sunday afternoon at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, against the Houston Gamblers (5-5) with a 17-10 win.

New Orleans quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed 23 of 31 passes (74.2%) for 227 yards, and two touchdowns, while running back Wes Hills led the rushers with nine carries for 20 yards. Wide receiver Johnnie Dixon led the receivers with three catches for 60 yards and one touchdown.

New Orleans kicker Matt Coghlin made one field goal for 33 yards and converted two extra points. New Orleans’s defense allowed 320 yards, with 71 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups.

Houston quarterback Kenji Bahar completed 21 of 30 passes (70%) for 231 yards, and three carries for 12 yards. Running back Mark Thompson had 19 carries for 84 yards, and one touchdown, while wide receiver Justin Hall led the receivers with five catches for 54 yards.

Houston kicker Nick Vogel made one field goal for 49 yards and converted one extra point. Houston’s defense allowed 234 yards, with 46 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
