The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former B.C. Lions offensive lineman Noah Zerr and released wide receiver Jon’Vea Johnson on Tuesday.

Noah Zerr is six foot seven and weighs 330 pounds. The 24-year-old from Langenburg, Saskatchewan, spent training camp with the Lions before he was released on June 4th. The Lions drafted Zerr in the second round (12th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft and played four games.

Collegiately, Zerr played 41 games in five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2016-19, 2021) playing left tackle for the Huskies.

In 2021, he was named USports First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star after helping the Huskies’ offense average 33.6 points per game, 1,870 rushing yards (187 Avg. Per Game), 2,727 passing yards (272.7 Avg. Per Game), and 37 touchdowns as the Huskies won the Hardy Cup and Uteck Bowl. In addition, he was voted as the Huskies’ lineman of the year.

Jon’Vea Johnson is six foot and weighs 192 pounds. The 27-year-old from Gary, Indiana, was released by the Ticats on June 4th before re-joining the team’s practice squad last week.

Before Hamilton, Johnson signed with the Memphis Showboats (USFL) in February 2023 but was released two months later. Before Memphis, Johnson spent the 2022 season on the Montreal Alouettes practice squad.

Johnson signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.

Collegiately, Johnson played four seasons at Toledo (2015-18) with 120 catches for 2,186 yards, 24 touchdowns, one catch for three yards, and one kick return for 22 yards in 51 games for the Rockets. He was named Third Team All-MAC in 2018 after making 30 catches for 623 yards, nine touchdowns, and one kick return for 22 yards in 12 games.
