Ocean City extends their regular-season unbeaten streak to 23 games

The Ocean City Nor’easters (6-0-2) began the second half of the 2023 USL League Two season on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Lone Star FC (3-3-1) from Bartram High School in Philadelphia. This was the second meeting of the season with Ocean City winning the first game 1-0 at Carey Stadium on May 26th.

The Nor’easters came into this game in first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division and put their 22-game regular season unbeaten streak on the line. Ocean City added to the winning streak.

In the 20th minute, Ocean City goalkeeper Stefano Camerlengo made two great saves to keep the game scoreless. Then, in the 22nd minute, Ocean City took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jamie Davis with an assist from Alessandro Arlotti.

In the 34th minute, Ocean City extended their lead to 2-0 when Alessandro Arlotti passed the ball to Sander Roed from inside the box and Roed fired it to the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season and Arlotti had his second assist of the night. The Nor’easters led 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Ocean City extended their lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute when Nick Pariano used his left foot to kick the ball from the far right corner and into the net. Alessandro Arlotti assisted with the goal. His three assists tied a single-game club record and Arlotti has four assists for the season.

In addition, Ryan Howe (2016), Nathan Regis (2016), Frank Tweneboa (2012), and Byron Carmichael (2005) have all recorded three assists in one goal. Arlotti now has ten assists in his Ocean City career which ranks fifth in team history, passing Tony Donatelli (2004-05), Fredlin Mompremier (2017-18), and Nathan Regis (2016).

In the 87th minute, Philadelphia ended Ocean City’s shutout attempt. It was now 3-1. A minute later, Nick Pariano made a cross pass into the box to Josh Jones and he used his right foot to score his first goal of the season and it was now 4-1 Ocean City.

The Ocean City Nor’easters defeated the Philadelphia Lone Star FC by the final score of 4-1. The win extends Ocean City’s regular season unbeaten streak to 23 games, of which 20 came on the road. In addition, Ocean City wins the season series with one game to play and they lead the all-time series 7-1-1. In the last six meetings, Ocean City are 5-0-1 against Philadelphia.
