The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed former Montreal Alouettes linebacker Brian Harelimana and brought back defensive back Kosi Onyeka on Wednesday.
Brian Harelimana is six foot two and weighs 228 pounds. The 27-year-old from Laval, Quebec, was released by the Alouettes on June 12th. Harelimana had 12 tackles, six tackles on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 18 games, of which three were starts for the Alouettes in 2022.
The Alouettes drafted Harelimana in the fourth round (33rd pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In 27 games, Harelimana has 14 tackles, nine tackles on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble.
Collegiately, Harelimana played three seasons at the University of Montreal (2017-19) with 87 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception, and nine pass breakups in 19 games for the Carabins. He was voted three-time RSEQ first-team all-star, First Team All-Canadian in 2018, and Second Team All-Canadian in 2019.
Kosi Onyeka is six foot and weighs 195 pounds. The 23-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, attended the Roughriders training camp before being released on June 4th.
Collegiately, Onyeka played three seasons (2017, 2019, 2021) at the University of Guelph with 64 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass breakups in 25 games for the Gryphons.
