Three Philadelphia Stars players were named to USFL All-Star Team

The United States Football League (USFL) revealed its 2023 USFL All-Star Team on Wednesday and three players from the Stars were named. They are wide receiver Corey Coleman (offense), defensive end Adam Rodriguez (defense), and kicker Luis Aguilar (special teams).

Corey Coleman set a new modern record in the USFL with 51 catches for 669 yards, and four touchdowns in ten games for the Stars in 2023. Corey Colman is five foot eleven and weighs 193 pounds. The 28-year-old from Dallas, Texas, signed with the Stars in February.

Before Philadelphia, he spent most of the 2022 season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. The Cleveland Browns drafted Coleman in the first round (15th pick) in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Cleveland with 56 catches for 718 yards, five touchdowns, and two carries for ten yards in 19 games.

After having stints with the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. Coleman signed with the New York Giants. He played eight games with five catches for 71 yards and one carry for five yards. A year later, Coleman tore his ACL and spent time on the Giants practice squad.

Collegiately, Coleman played three seasons at Baylor (2013-15) with 173 catches for 3,009 yards, 33 touchdowns, 33 carries for 164 yards, one touchdown, 25 kick returns for 651 yards, one touchdown, and three punt returns for nine yards in 35 games for the Bears.

Coleman won the 2015 Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s outstanding college football receiver and was a unanimous All-American in 2015.

Adam Rodriguez is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. The 25-year-old from Provo, Utah, had 27 tackles (18 solo, 9 assist) and six sacks in ten games for the Stars in 2023. In two seasons with Philadelphia, Rodriguez has 67 tackles (46 solo, 21 assists) and 15 tackles in 20 games.  He wraps up his second season in Philadelphia after the Stars drafted him in the second round of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft.

Before Philadelphia, he was with the TSL’s Blues in 2021. He played 52 games in four seasons (2016-19) at Weber State with 199 tackles, 22 sacks (98 solo, 101 assists), 41 tackles for loss, ten pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.

Luis Aguilar is six foot three and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Nogales, Arizona, led the USFL converting 25 of 29 field goals (86%) with a long of 56 yards, including scoring 24 points (8 field goals) in a win against the New Jersey Generals on May 14th. Aguilar joined the Stars midway through the 2022 season, converting 8 of 10 field goals (80%) with a long of 49 yards, and made 19 extra points in six games.

Before Philadelphia, Aguilar played five seasons at Northern Arizona (2017-21) converting 44 of 60 field goals (73.3%) with a long of 57 yards, making 115 of 117 extra points, 20 punts for 705 yards with a long of 51 yards, three touchbacks, five fair catches, five from inside the 20-yard line, and two from 50-plus yards in 49 games for the Lumberjacks.

He has won numerous awards including a two-time First Team All-Big Sky (2019, Spring 2021), and a 2019 Fred Mitchell Award recipient.
