The Reading Royals re-signed forward Brendan Hoffmann to a one-year contract extension through the 2023-24 season. He becomes the first Reading player to re-sign with the team for the upcoming season.
Brendan Hoffmann is six foot three and weighs 223 pounds. The 21-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, earned 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) and 56 PIM in 64 games for the Royals last season. In addition, Hoffmann scored three goals in the ECHL playoffs.
“We’re very excited to have Brendan returning for the 23/24 season. He is a young player that continues to improve on a daily basis,” said Reading Head Coach James Henry. “We look for Brendan to take a big step forward this season and contribute to our team success.”
Before Reading, Hoffmann earned 34 points (20 goals,14 assists), and 50 PIM in 63 games with the Erie Otters in the 2021-22 season. The Erie Otters drafted Hoffmann in the seventh round (140th pick) in the 2017 OHL Draft. Hoffmann played four seasons in Erie with 74 points (44 goals, 30 assists) and 115 PIM in 189 games.
Hoffmann also played for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA in the GTHL U16 with 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) and 6 PIM in 32 games, and Toronto Jr. Canadiens U18 AAA in the GTHL U18 with 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) and 22 PIM in 33 games.
He also played for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the OJHL with one goal in seven games. In addition, he played two games in the OJHL playoffs.
