Ottawa Redblacks WR DeVonte Dedmon is out for the season

The Ottawa Redblacks received devastating news on Monday as wide receiver/returner DeVonte Dedmon is out for the rest of the 2023 season with a shoulder injury. This was reported by Ottawa Sun Sports Writer Tim Baines.

The 26-year-old from Williamsburg, Virginia, injured his shoulder against the Calgary Stampeders in Week 2. Dedmon played two games with four kick returns for 88 yards, and 11 punt returns for 79 yards in 2023.

In 2022, Dedmon had eight catches for 58 yards, two carries for five yards, 13 punt returns for 174 yards, eight kick returns for 182 yards, and two missed field goal returns for 76 yards in six games. After the season, Dedmon left the Redblacks to try out for the Miami Dolphins.

He returned to the Redblacks on August 20th, 2022. In the 2021 season, Dedmon had 11 catches for 103 yards, ten carries for 68 yards, and one touchdown.

In addition. Dedmon had 48 punt returns for 737 yards, two touchdowns, 49 kickoff returns for 1,223 yards, one touchdown, and four missed field goal returns for 103 yards in 11 games. Dedmon was named CFL All-Star and CFL East All-Star and won the 2021 John Agro Special Teams Award as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams.

In 22 career games with the Redblacks, Dedmon has 23 catches for 219 yards, 12 carries for 73 yards, and one touchdown. On special teams, Dedmon has 83 punt returns for 1,250 yards, three touchdowns, 73 kickoff returns for 1,947 yards, two touchdowns, and seven missed field goal returns for 185 yards.

Collegiately, Dedmon played five seasons at William & Mary (2014-18) with 152 catches for 2,037 yards, 20 touchdowns, 41 carries for 240 yards, one touchdown, 55 kick returns for 1,364 yards, one touchdown, 19 punt returns for 184 yards, and one touchdown in 44 games for the Tribe. He was named Second Team All-CAA selection in 2016 and Third Team All-CAA selection in 2018.
