Birmingham quarterback Alex McGough threw four touchdowns to help the Stallions win their second USFL Championship.

The 2023 USFL season concluded on Saturday night at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The Birmingham Stallions took on the Pittsburgh Maulers in the 2023 USFL Championship Game. The Stallions made their second championship game in a row while Pittsburgh were playing in their first USFL Championship Game in franchise history.

Birmingham quarterback Alex McGough had an MVP performance. He completed 18 of 25 passes (72%) for 243 yards, four touchdowns, and led the rushers with nine carries for 64 yards as the Stallions won their second championship with a 28-12 win.

 Birmingham running back C.J. Marable had eight carries for 48 yards and four catches for 25 yards. Wide receiver Deon Cain, Davion Davis, and tight end Jace Sternberger combined with ten catches for 190 yards, and four touchdowns. Kicker Brandon Aubrey made four extra points. Deon Cain was named the Championship Game MVP.

Birmingham’s defense allowed 202 yards, with 69 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

Pittsburgh quarterback Troy Williams completed 24 of 37 passes (64.9%) for 143 yards and led the rushers with four carries for 38 yards. Pittsburgh had no problems getting to the red zone but could not score a touchdown on offense. Running back Garrett Groshek had nine carries for 35 yards and two catches for 13 yards. Wide receiver Isiah Hennie had eight catches for 55 yards.

Kicker Chris Blewitt made four of five field goals with a long of 55 yards. Pittsburgh’s defense allowed 357 yards, with 58 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown.
