The Calgary Stampeders signed wide receivers Marken Michel, Floyd Allen, and running back LeVante Bellamy on Sunday.
In addition, the Stampeders activated wide receiver Reggie Begelton from the six-game injury list and placed wide receiver Malik Henry on the six-game injury list.
Marken Michel is five foot eleven and weighs 191 pounds. The 29-year-old from Plantation, Florida, was on the Washington Commanders practice squad for two seasons.
Michel signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2016. After getting released, Michel signed with the Calgary Stampeders. He made an instant impact playing two seasons with 74 catches for 1,233 yards, eight touchdowns, four carries for 47 yards, one touchdown, five kick returns for 89 yards, and five punt returns for 39 yards in 24 games, of which 22 were starts. He is a member of Calgary’s 2018 Grey Cup Championship team.
After Calgary, Michel signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on January 10, 2019. He was among the final cuts during training camp but was brought back to the practice squad. In 2020, Michel signed with the Carolina Panthers and played two regular season games. Later, the Eagles claimed him off waivers in 2021, and was released before signing with Washington shortly after.
Collegiately, Michel played four seasons at the University of Massachusetts (2012-15) with 89 catches for 985 yards, 5 touchdowns, 26 carries for 161 yards, two touchdowns, and nine kick returns for 145 yards in 27 games for the Minutemen.
Floyd Allen is five foot ten and weighs 199 pounds. The 26-year-old from Houston, Texas, played one preseason game for Calgary with two catches for 46 yards, two punt returns for 10 yards, and one kick return for 22 yards.
It was the second consecutive year that Allen attended the Stampeders training camp. In 2022, Allen played one preseason game with one catch for ten yards, and a missed field goal return for 45 yards.
He previously spent time with the Houston Texans in 2019 and was drafted by the Dallas Renegades (XFL) in the 2020 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2021, he was with the Generals (TSL) but did not play a game.
Collegiately, Allen played one season at El Camino College (2016) with three catches for 40 yards, one carry for one yard, three tackles, and one pass breakup in two games. Next, he transferred to Ole Miss (2017-18) with four catches for 44 yards and one kick return for ten yards in nine games.
LeVante Bellamy is five foot nine and weighs 189 pounds. The 26-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, attended Calgary’s training camp in 2023. Before Calgary, he spent two seasons on the Denver Broncos practice squad.
Bellamy played two regular season games in 2020 with three catches for 11 yards and one catch for five yards. In addition, he played one preseason game in 2021 with four carries for two yards.
Collegiately, Bellamy played five seasons at Western Michigan (2015-19) with 617 carries for 3,720 yards, 35 touchdowns, 57 catches for 370 yards, one touchdown, and 19 kick returns for 358 yards in 48 games for the Broncos.
In his junior season, Bellamy had 205 carries for 1,228 yards, six touchdowns, 30 catches for 130 yards, one touchdown, and 14 kick returns for 255 yards in 13 games.
In his senior season, Bellamy had 266 carries for 1,472 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 catches for 55 yards in 13 games. He is a two-time First-Team All-MAC (2018-19) and MAC Offensive Player of the Year (2019).
