The Montreal Alouettes released defensive linemen Jabari Ellis and Nick Heninger on Monday.

Jabari Ellis is six foot three and weighs 290 pounds. The 25-year-old from Vance, South Carolina, was on the Alouettes practice squad. In 2022, he played two games registering two tackles for Montreal. He signed with the Alouettes as a free agent on September 6, 2022.

Collegiately, Ellis played two seasons at Georgia Military College (2016-17) with 36 tackles (27 solo, 9 assists), 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one pass breakup in 21 games for the Bulldogs. Then, he transferred to South Carolina (2018-21) with 81 tackles (44 solo, 37 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and two pass breakups in 35 games, of which 22 were starts for the Gamecocks.

Nick Heninger is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 27-year-old from South Jordan, Utah, played one game for the Alouettes in 2022. In his final season at Utah State, Heninger had 75 tackles (31 solo, 44 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, five pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 14 games for the Aggies.

In addition, he had seven tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks that helped the Aggies win the LA Bowl over Oregon State 24-13 and was named Defensive MVP.

Collegiately, Heninger began at Utah (2017-18) with 13 tackles (5 solo, 8 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries in 24 games for the Utes. Then, he transferred to Utah State (2019-21) with 149 tackles (66 solo, 83 assists), 38 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, seven pass breakups, nine forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 33 games for the Aggies. He was an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2020.
