The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Jequez Ezzard and released quarterback N’Kosi Perry on Tuesday. Jequez Ezzard is five foot ten and weighs 202 pounds.
The 25-year-old from College Park, Georgia, played eight games for the D.C. Defenders (XFL) in 2023 with three catches for 44 yards (14.7 AVG), and one touchdown. The Defenders drafted Ezzard in the second round (16th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft.
Before the XFL, Ezzard signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2022. Collegiately, Ezzard began at Howard University (2016-19) with 75 catches for 1,956 yards (78.2 AVG), 18 touchdowns, six carries for 51 yards, 28 kick returns for 582 yards, and 15 punt returns for 125 yards in 25 games for the Bison.
In 2017, he was named First Team All-MEAC with 34 catches for 895 yards (81.4 AVG), six touchdowns, four carries for 38 yards, 14 kick returns for 297 yards, and nine punt returns for 58 yards in 11 games.
He would be named to his second First Team All-MEAC in 2018 with 40 catches for 1,064 yards (106.4 AVG), 12 touchdowns, two carries for 13 yards, one kick return for 13 yards, and six punt returns for 67 yards in 10 games.
Then, Ezzard transferred to Sam Houston State (2020-21) with 79 catches for 1,470 yards (73.5 AVG), 15 touchdowns, seven carries for 67 yards, one touchdown, 37 punt returns for 516 yards, and two touchdowns in 20 games for the Bearkats. He was named First Team All-WAC as a wide receiver and return specialist in 2021.
N’Kosi Perry is six foot four and weighs 195 pounds. The 24-year-old from Ocala, Florida, signed with the Ticats on June 23, 2023. Before Hamilton, Perry was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Sea Dragons after going undrafted in the 2023 XFL Draft.
Collegiately, Perry played four seasons at the University of Miami (2017-2020) completing 208 of 397 passes (52.4%) for 2,484 yards, 24 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 10 carries for 111 yards, and three touchdowns in 25 games for the Hurricanes.
After Miami, Perry transferred to Florida Atlantic University (2021-22) completing 425 of 717 passes (59%) for 5,483 yards, 45 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 198 carries for 408 yards, and 10 touchdowns in 24 games for the Owls.
In 2022, Perry was named Co-Captain and PFF C-USA All-Third Team after completing 215 of 371 passes (58%) for 25 yards, 5 interceptions, 91 carries for 259 yards, and 6 touchdowns in 12 games. In addition, Perry was named the Shula Bowl XXI MVP after completing 14 of 22 passes (64%) for 104 yards, two touchdowns, three carries for 16 yards, and two touchdowns.
